Family Connections, Inc. is seeking a Full or Temporary Iowa Licensed Therapist or Intern to provide in-office mental health therapy services to a broad range of clients from children to adults.
Requirements:

  • Must have full or temporary Iowa license (LMHC or LISW) or the ability to obtain (will financially assist with licensure)
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Be an Intern in a graduate program

To Provide BHI Services:

Duties

Workers provide Behavioral Health Intervention Services (skill teaching) thorough Medicaid to clients with a diagnosed mental health condition.  The goal is to teach the individual and family how to effectively deal with the symptoms of the diagnosed mental disorder.

A worker sets up appointments with the family and meets with them for the designated amount of time. Most appointments are in the afternoon/evening due to most clients being school age.  With each client, the worker completes casenotes and develops an implementation plan in addition to subsequent plan updates and discharge.

Workers also attend necessary meetings, court hearings, and other related tasks. Workers have the flexibility to design their own schedule.  Workers also have a great responsibility in making recommendations and in providing services to their clients but workers also have a great opportunity to help Iowa’s adults, adolescents, children, and families improve and grow!

Requirements/Education

To provide BHI Services in the State of Iowa, all employees must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Human Service field and adequate experience. Employees must also have a valid Driver’s license and own their own vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage (due to these services being provided in the home.

All employees must possess strong documentation skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to be flexible and work with a variety of people.

To Provide Therapy Services:

Duties:

Therapists provide in-office mental health therapy to eligible clients and their families. Therapists conduct initial assessment on private insurance and private pay clients and maintain accurate progress notes reflecting the necessary requirements for documentation and files for each client. Therapists have the flexibility to develop their own schedule and set how many cases they want to carry on their caseload.

For Medicaid eligible clients, therapists can provide in-office or in-home mental health therapy to clients and their families. Therapists maintain accurate progress notes reflecting the necessary requirements for documentation and maintain client files.

Requirements/Education:

To provide therapy therapists must be licensed in the State of Iowa in mental health counseling or social work.

Candidates must also possess strong written, oral, and communication skills.  Flexibility is a must.
